Tyler says…

My friend, the great Buddhist country western singer Tyler Burba, is a very wise man. It’s utterly shocking that he’s not better known given how talented he is. Really, he’s the real deal. Knows more about film and music and literature and Buddhism than a lot of people who are experts. And besides knowing a lot about a lot of shit, he actually has the balls to put himself out there and create. With some very respectable results, I might add. He’s all DIY, and his stuff has that kind of immediacy, though the sound he gets is so tailored and dead on you can hardly believe it. His stuff compares quite favorably with almost anything done in the past 20 years in the alt-country genre. And all this whilst all the while holding a day job educating the youth in New York City… which is by itself as much or more than most people can handle. You can hear his music here: http://www.visit-music.net

Anyhow, Tyler and I were chatting on Facebook today and he told me something very true which I felt was worth sharing. He said:

  • Those who can’t teach become administrators
  • Those who can’t administrate become philosophers

About 11again

Used to be an academic... now I'm a washed up academic. I like cooking, blues music, black writers, and morally compromised people of all persuasions.
